Fabulous Fibers! A Celebration of Utah Fiber Artists!

On View: September 3 – October 13, 2021
Location:
Utah Cultural Celebration Center, Celebration Gallery
The Mary Meigs Atwater Weaver’s Guild of Utah is delighted to present their 26th biennial fiber exhibit, Fabulous Fibers!.  The exhibit features both traditional and modern applications of a rich variety of textile and fiber art.  All entries are designed and hand-crafted by Utah fiber artists.  This colorful, juried exhibit showcases traditional handwoven items, rugs, clothing, tea towels, tapestry, art quilting, embroidered art, handmade lace, a variety of surface design techniques, and other fiber-related art forms.

The Mary Meigs Atwater Weaver’s Guild of Utah was founded in 1956 and is named for Mary Atwater, a founding member of the Guild. Mary is widely credited with helping to save the art of handweaving in America after the industrial revolution through her research, teaching, and writing. For 65 years, the Guild has thrived, bringing beauty and satisfaction to many people and keeping the craft of weaving alive. This Exhibit is open to all types of fiber artists and carries on the legacy of Mary Atwater.
