Utah Shakespeare Festival’s Shakespeare-in-the-Schools Tour
The Utah Shakespeare Festival’s educational touring production of Much Ado about Nothing presents two performances on March 24 and 25, 2022 at 10 a.m. at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center.
Much Ado about Nothing Join us for Utah Shakespeare Festival’s educational touring production of Much Ado about Nothing, a play by William Shakespeare first performed in 1612.
One of Shakespeare’s comedies, Much Ado About Nothing includes two stories of misunderstandings, love and deception. Hero and Claudio fall in love almost at first sight, but an outsider, Don John, strikes out at their happiness. Beatrice and Benedick are kept apart by pride and mutual antagonism until others decide to play Cupid. “This year’s production of Much Ado About Nothing, is set in a robust, collegiate world in which we find our characters on campus at the tail end of football season. And in that spirit, you will watch them make plays, run interference, complete passes, score touchdowns, and as is always the case in love and football... fumble. Confusion, mistrust, betrayal, and disarray seem poised for domination after a false scandal erupts and threatens the prospect of a winning season. But as in all great games, these beloved characters stage a dramatic comeback, joining together to recover victory from the jaws of defeat! And in the end, we are reminded that the game of life and love can only be won with trust, humility, a deep bench of support, and the belief that our team is greater than the sum of its individual parts.” Betsy Mugavero, Production Director |
