Artist Brian Baity who says "my greatest passion is the joy experienced when people set real life aside for a few moments and find their true selves through the arts" is well-known for his intricate egg and gourd sculpting and his generous charitable support through gifting. Baity's art has been exclusively featured from Utah to New York, and globally in numerous countries.
Brian's particular innovation is intricate, precise designs on egg shells which are both crystalline as well as porous. He is a detailed master sculptor who celebrates the subtle, natural beauty of natural objects such as eggshells, gourds, wood and stone in a synchronistic way combining delicate and cutting-edge techniques. His carvings reflect his respect for the most natural forms of the objects and has a diverse portfolio - from intricate eggs to fascinating gourds to wood carvings and jewelry.
In honor of the upcoming Easter holiday, enjoy just a few of Brian's carved eggs.

Emu Egg Bison Spirit
Carved Emu Eggshell. The colors are all natural and achieved by carefully shaving away layers. |
Emu Egg Comedy and Tragedy
Carved Emu Eggshell. I am drawn to the arts and symbols that represent them in all their various forms. |
Emu Egg Forbes Contest
Carved Emu Eggshell. This is the first emu eggshell I carved. It was created for a contest sponsored by the Forbes Art Gallery in Manhattan, New York. As a winner in that contest, this piece was exhibited in the Forbes Gallery for more than a month. |
Emu Egg Kokopelli Vessel
Carved Emu Eggshell. The top of this eggshell is removed and carved in a Native American style with the Kokopelli figure as its central focus. |
Emu Egg Orthodox Crosses
Carved Emu Eggshell. Carved as part of a collection for a series of art exhibitions in Bulgaria, this piece has been shown in numerous cities across Bulgaria and here in the USA as well. |
Emu Egg Soaring Eagle
Carved Emu Eggshell. A second piece in a series of six currently being completed. It is partnered at this time with the Bison Spirit Emu Eggshell. |
Goose Egg Holes
Carved Goose Eggshell. The very first eggshell I ever carved. It was actually an experiment because I wasn't sure I wanted to carve eggs when this piece was created. It did inspire me to pursue this most delicate canvas as a way to express my artistic mind. |
Goose Egg Lattice
Carved Goose Eggshell. This is a double yolk goose eggshell making it quite a bit larger than a typical goose egg. Lattice patterns like this one have become a trademark for my eggshell carving. I have developed special tools and techniques that allow me to get the precise lines I aim for in these pieces. |
Ostrich Egg Butterfly and Cherry Blossoms
Carved and Scrimshaw Ostrich Eggshell with 24K gold leaf. Recently I have been applying gold leaf to some of my egg designs because I am inspired by Peter Carl Fabergé who built such beautiful works of art with the egg as a focus point for his work. Although he never actually used real eggshells, I aspire to have my creations considered in the same world as the marvelous pieces by Fabergé. |
Ostrich Egg Oak Leaves
Carved Ostrich Eggshell. The entire surface of this ostrich eggshell is carved in shallow relief oak leaves. I like to work with forms from nature such as leaves and the challenge to cover the entire surface with leaves and pierce the negative spaces is something I find challenging and fulfilling. |
Ostrich Egg Steve Wynn
Carved Ostrich Eggshell, this design is based on the designs found in the Wynn Casino in Las Vegas. In place of he colors you would see in the designs from the casino, each color is represented by a different carving technique. When I created this piece it was my hope to have Steve Wynn, a huge collector of art, see and perhaps own it as part of his personal collection. |
